Dallas may be one of the most family-friendly places in the entire United States. Most families can’t wait to check out the Dallas Zoo or hit the horse trails at River Ranch. Dallas also has one of the biggest indoor water parks in the United States in Epic Waters and even more aquatic fun with Dallas World Aquarium.
Bread Winner’s Cafe
Before heading over to the Dallas Zoo, you might want to get the day started on the right foot by heading over to the Bread Winner’s Cafe. A warm basket of breakfast sandwiches and breads will arrive at your table as you and your family wait.
The Dallas Zoo is truly remarkable and hosts over 2,000 animals. With 400 species of animals on display, parents won’t have to worry about their kids getting bored. The Dallas Zoo has a long history since it was founded in the late 19th century and continues to follow a tradition of realism and environmental stewardship.
The Dallas Zoo attempts to recreate the actual habitats of an array of endangered species. The aptly named exhibit known as Giants of the Savannah is a multi-species exhibit that allows elephants and other species to intermingle. It’s the only exhibit in the United States of its kind. It’s a must-see attraction.
The River Ranch at Texas Horse Park is located in South Dallas. A 600-acre equestrian facility that wends itself through the Great Trinity Forest, the River Ranch at Texas Horse Park truly delivers a memorable riding experience for the entire family.
The ranch is located within minutes of downtown and offers guided horseback rides Wednesday all the way through Monday. Parents of younger children might consider taking their tots to hand-guided pony rides around the arena; these are offered to kids four through nine.
Epic Waters in North Dallas truly is epic with a layout of 80,000 square feet. The water park is unique both for its size and the fact that it is owned by the City of Grand Prairie. Kids will be delighted to experience the nation’s largest aqualoop, a kind of looping water slide, and the world’s first double-rider inner tube ride of its kind, the Aquasphere.
Dallas World Aquarium
Spanning 3 buildings, the Dallas World Aquarium is a zoological park which features sea creatures, reptiles, penguins, and a rain forest experience. Located in a massive refurbished warehouse in the Historic West End District, the privately-owned aquatic park offers visitors the chance to see marine life from all over the world. The aquarium offers feeding shows and special performances, but due to Covid-19, please visit their website for all guidelines and additional information.
